What will I do as my PTA FLES Coordinator?
Each year the PTA identifies a volunteer parent to fill the PTA committee position of FLES Coordinator. As the parent who understands the value of learning a foreign language at an early age, you play a necessary and vital role in our program! Volunteering as a PTA FLES Coordinator, you will be in charge of registration at your school and serve as the liaison between your school, the FLES administrative office and the FLES teacher(s) throughout the school year. You will receive a discount for own child’s tuition!
To start a FLES Program at your school, follow these 10 steps!
- Attend a FLES training and receive a FLES manual and registration forms;
- Distribute registration information to parents;
- Ask school’s administrative staff to identify a classroom;
- Create a roster for each class with emergency contact information for each student and forward it to FLES teacher and administrative office;
- Collect student payments and forward them to your PTA treasurer who writes a check to the FLES Program;
- Distribute confirmation letters to parents when class is ready to start;
- Introduce the FLES teacher(s) to the school;
- Maintain lines of communication with the FLES teacher(s), parents and FLES administrative office during the school year;
- Distribute and collect parent evaluations in the spring, and forward them to the FLES office.
- Complete a Request Form for the following year’s FLES program!
